WHAT IS TRAUMA?
Trauma is an pervasive problem that one can’t seem to pinpoint. Trauma refers to a single event or multiple events that an individual has experienced currently or in the past, that leads to intense physical and mental stress. Trauma experiences may have occurred in childhood, teenage years or in adulthood. The experience can resurface at any time in the present or future with unexpected or devastating results.
TRAUMA can be know as Psychological trauma (also know as mental trauma, emotional trauma, psychiatric trauma, emotional damage, or psychotrauma) is an EMOTIONAL response to severe distressing events that are beyond expected and understood normal range of human experiences. The trauma must seem to be outside acceptable, normal events to affected person and seen as directly threatening to the affected person or their loved ones.(Wikipedia)
Trauma is an emotional response to a distressing event that can cause lasting negative effects on a person’s mental, physical, social, emotional, or spiritual well-being.
“Trauma healing is not a linear process. It involves peaks and valleys, setbacks and progress. The key is to keep moving forward, even on the difficult days.” – Jasmin Lee Cori.

Trauma can be caused by a single event or a series of events, and can happen at any age.

Trauma symptoms typically last from a few days to a few months. However, painful memories or emotions can resurface from time to time, especially in response to triggers. Psychologists and Trauma counsellors can help people find constructive ways of managing their emotions.

Dealing with trauma means that we have to embrace our pain and using it as a starting point for growth so that we can find the strength to heal and transform our lives step by step.
